Santinelli Brings a New Dimension to Lens Processing
Hauppauge, NY- Taking the lead once again in advanced lens finishing equipment,
Santinelli International and Nidek announce an entirely new technological concept
with the introduction of the ME-1000 Multi-Function Edger. Maintaining the company's
reputation for precision edging and Crystal Cut Polish, the ME-1000 introduces
proprietary 3-Dimensional Drilling and 3-Dimensional Grooving, along with Polish
Safety Beveling. The unique combination offers CNC-control, resulting in fewer
manual operations and the highest level of profitable efficiency in lens finishing.
The unit’s Flexible Tilting Function (FTF) mode creates 3-D Drilling,
by automatically adjusting the angle of the drill direction according
to the lens surface. An additional auto-mode will adjust the drill angle
for pantoscopic tilt. For the artistic craftsman, the ME-1000’s
manual mode allows for truly customized eyewear, including
decorative lens edge designs and holes. The result
is better-fitting, more attractive
eyewear and increased patient satisfaction.
The ME-1000 also introduces 3-D Grooving with a grooving cutter that
automatically adjusts according to the lens curve, producing a groove
with pin-point accuracy. The unit also has a high power/high speed direct
drive main spindle motor, making it 15% faster than current models, with
newly developed grinding modes and dual lens mapping probes for all lens
materials.

The ME-1000’s large, high-resolution touch panel screen is fast,
responsive and extremely user friendly. A color-coded system makes
the unit highly intuitive and guides the operator through
the process. At the touch of a button, the LCD display
switches to Drilling Editor or
Shape Editor Mode for enhanced functionality.
